Together for Short Lives was launched as a new UK charity in November 2011 after a merger of ‘ACT’ (Association for Children with life-threatening and Terminal conditions) and Children’s Hospice UK the previous month. Since then, Together for Short Lives have become the leading UK charity for all children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions and all those who support, love and care for them.
The charity has a main strategy working round 5 priorities: information and support for families, quality of life & quality of death, commissioning & sustainability, community engagement & volunteering, and transition.
There has been many awareness raising events including: being one of ITV Text Santa’s charities for two years running (between 2012-2014), as well as also benefiting from the proceeds of ‘The X Factor’s charity and winner’s singles between 2011-2013.
