Samsung and AT&T are to release a hard-wearing version of their flagship Galaxy S7 smartphone, the Galaxy S7 Active.
The design of the S7 Active isn’t that different compared to last year’s Active model, but its measurements are slightly larger. It’s thicker – 9.9 millimetres – and heavier, 185 grams compared to 170g.
The S7 Active is water and dust resistant. It has a larger battery, although the screen is no bigger – 5.1-inch, and 1440 x 2560 pixel display.
The new Active smartphone will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow and it features 4GB of RAM, 1GB more than last year’s phone, and 32GB of internal storage.
The S7 Active has a 12-megapixel camera, with a dual pixel sensor to improve pictures taken in low lighting conditions and the front-facing selfie camera has a 5-megapixel resolution.
The S7 Active will be exclusive to AT&T when launched next month. The launch date is thought to be 10 June.
